Christmas in October

Happy Wednesday,

Can you believe October is almost over? Yikes! So I decided to create a Christmas tag.

I colored her skin and hair with Copic Markers and then I paper pieced her outfit. To add some glam I gave her gold glitter tights and black glitter shoes. For the trim on her skirt and belt I used liquid snow with some fine white glitter. The paper I used was from graphic 45 and her skirt is a Christmas Memory box paper. I created the snowflakes first by stenciling a red floral print then it was layered with Magnolia Doo Hickey Big Cozy Snowflake and Memory box snowflake dies. A red pearl was added to each. I hope I have inspired you to create a Christmas project.

Fall Brilliance

I can't believe the weekend is over. I had a great weekend. I went to an image transfer class yesterday and below is my finish product.

We used a birch panel covered with printed paper (music sheets/text from a book). It was attached to the canvas with matte medium. Next step was we painted our panel with a light coat of Gesso. Then apply matte medium to the panel and apply the image transfer. Let the panel with image dry completely. Next, spray with water and remove the paper. Wha la the image is transferred to your canvas. I then painted my canvas with acrylic paints and water color crayon. I used a few stencils - butterfly, oak leaves with acorn (bottom right), Tim Holtz spider web and small dots for the centers of the flowers.

It was so fun and relaxing I can't wait to do the next one. We did some remodeling in our kitchen, once it's painted I will hang in the kitchen.

I hope you are inspired to create a project!

Trick or Treat Tag

Happy Saturday!

Welcome. I am on a new craze. I absolutely love these Prima Doll Stamps. I love creating their outfits. It reminds me of when I was a child and I had paper dolls. I used paper from Graphic 45 Steampunk, tissue tape from Tim Holtz and a stencil scene. I cut her clothes out and glued to the doll. I colored her hair with Copic Markers E25, E31, E50. For her headband and shoes I added orange glitter. Her tights have glow in the dark glitter. To finish off my design I added ribbon, metal trinkets, lace and Jolees embellishment.

I hope you feel inspired to create a fall or Halloween project. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Lili Playing with Leaves

Hello Inky Fans,

It’s been over a month since I posted an Inky card. I am so happy to be back! Today I would like to share how to make a card that is simple but elegant.

I was asked last week how I create my projects. For example do I plan my final project or do I design as I go. When I start my projects I do have a plan however as I begin working the project starts to take a life of it's own. Below are the products I chose for my initial design.  In my initial planning I was going to use more of the Graphic 45 paper but as my card was beginning to take shape I decided to keep my design simple.

First I stamped my image with black Memento ink on to Cryogen paper. Next I colored my image with Copic Markers.  Skin-E000, E00, R20; hair E50, E51, E53; pants and jacket E41, E42, E43; shirt, shoes headband R000, R01, R02, E44, Y21, Y38; leaves R35, R37, YG95,YG97, Y11, Y13, Y15, YR18, YR24, Y38, YR00, YR00. I used the Spellbinders die to cut out the image.

Now how I applied the Frantage. First, I cut my image with the die, I chose Aged Scarlet Frantage for my design. I used a tiny spoon with a small amount of Frantage and gently dropped it on the background of the colored image. Warm up your heat gun. Then use the heat gun under the image. I move the heat gun around so it doesn’t burn the paper. You will be able to tell by looking as it melts. I recommend that you use a little at a time. If you want it heavier you can add more.
I wanted to the viewer to get the illusion that the leaves were tossed in the air and I used Frantage to create the motion of particles falling.

I used Frayed Burlap distress ink on the edges of my designer paper and my die cut. I added a bow to my designer paper, attached the designer paper to the card.  And there you have it. A simple card with a touch of elegance.

Here are a few close up views of my card:

I hope you were inspired today. If you have any questions you can email me at k_l_gauthier@yahoo.com.  Enjoy your weekend!

All the best,
Karen
